About KIDS TOGETHER Inc.
|
Kids Together, Inc., is an all-volunteer, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1995 with a mission to raise funds and build public awareness in support of Kids Together Playground at Marla Dorrel Park in Cary, NC.
Kids Together Inc. promotes use of the playground, presents special activities and events at the playground, and develops and funds projects to improve and enhance the Kids Together Playground experience — like the We-Go-Swing wheelchair-accessible swing, misting gardens, shade structures, and more to come! |
WE WORK HARD SO ALL KIDS CAN PLAY
While the Marla Dorrel Park and playground are one of the 30+ parks (and growing!) owned and maintained by the Town of Cary, we can’t expect the town to present inclusive programs or keep a dedicated eye specifically on just Kids Together Playground, so that’s where we step in!
As stewards of the playground, the Kids Together Board works in close partnership with the Town of Cary — which helps us preserve, improve, and expand the playground as an acclaimed example of accessible, inclusive, outdoor play. The Board manages the nonprofit and oversees these efforts.

FAQs About the Board
People often ask what the role involves, so we put together this short FAQ about serving on the board. (Spoiler: we enjoy it!)
What Do Board Members Do?
Board members support the playground in several ways. We help plan and host events throughout the year and each participate in a yearly playground inspection to identify repairs or maintenance needs.
We also help organize the annual Walk, Run & Roll for Inclusive Play fundraiser, maintain the playground’s website, social media (Facebook and Instagram), quarterly newsletter, attend planning meetings, and support community events or grant efforts.
Bring your ideas! We're a creative and supportive group who are always looking for new ways to grow and enhance the playground.

Why Join the Board?
Do you like seeing smiles and kids having fun? Us too! Serving on the board is a chance to support a special place where children of all ages and abilities can play together.
For more than 26 years, the playground has brought joy to Triangle families. Plus, we also get to do fun things like host hot cocoa bars, play with parachutes, blow bubbles, paint rocks for kids to find, and more!
